“ This place has character. Loads of it ! Right down to the skateboard trucks/ wheels door knob at the front door. What time do they open? It says on the door 11.29 and I'm sure it's no typo ! Trying to get the waitresses' attention ? No worries, just grab the cow squeezy toy and give a loud toot! And I really loved the little samurai sword burger-pick, it screams character! The moment you step in, your eyes are inundated with quirky signs and comical curios. It's both a culinary feast as well as a visual feast . I've reviewed burger joints all over the globe but this one was truly memorable. I'd give 5 stars for the food and service but 6 stars for atmosphere! Walked away with a happy memory, a full belly and even a Burger Chop tee-shirt ! ”

“ Those are seriously good burgers. Meat is juicy, cooked perfectly, and the Chef has imagination. The burger of the week, with white mushrooms and cheese was heaven. Service was perfect, friendly and efficient. A little detail that makes a lot of difference, not food related though: the owners thought of us people who menstruate, there are some menstrual products available in the toilets for free. So basically, great for food, drinks and you'll feel welcome. Really recommend the place! ”

“ Just wow! This is probably the best burger we have had anywhere on the globe so far! It was incredible and the service was also amazing. Full credit to his small but perfectly formed restaurant. If you thought having a burger in Japan might be strange, I urge you to give them a try. We are only here two nights and they are closed Sunday otherwise we would have come again. English speaking waitress was very welcoming as was the chef who came out to meet us in person. Gold Medal World class ”

“ The stars for Burger Chop are all well deserved. We are visiting Matsumoto for 3 days during a 30 day Japan trip, and wanted a little taste of home. We were so pleasantly surprised! Everything here is made with such care! We had the buttered corn, onion rings, and avocado cheeseburger. All ingredients were perfectly fresh, tasty, and arranged thoughtfully. The chef cut our shared burger in half and even kept all the avocado slices exactly lined up. We live in an area where beef is raised (Oregon), and believe me when I say this is one of the best burgers we've ever had. Crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, just the right amount of sauce, and a juicy but not greasy patty. We could learn a thing or two from the Japanese way of doing things. This place also has a great selection of whisky! We have an extensive whisky collection and enjoy trying and buying rare bottles on our travels. The chef noticed, and showed us some very special bottles, the 17 year Hibiki and the 100th anniversary Hibiki. We had to try them! We even got gifted a tasting of other local whisky. The ambience of the place is fun, with pictures of #vanlife, Red Bull heli-skiing and surfing on the TV, and American music (Whitney, Rhianna, etc). English menus are available. I would highly recommend this place to any American wanting a burger, but also to anyone wanting to try a gourmet burger in general. A big thank you to the chef and staff for a really pleasant experience. ”

“ Hankering for some western food after eating incredible Japanese food for ten days. I seriously rate this burger as the BEST I have ever eaten. So delicious, the waygu Pattie was insanely good. Home made potato wedges and ice cold beer. If you are in Matsumoto please call in and see these guys. Their sound track is epic too! Leaving full and happy! ”
